SHELLFISH
The Wild Atlantic Shellfish Company has exported its Irish Rock oysters (Crassostrea
gigas) under the Wild Atlantic Oyster brand since 2015. The company is owned and
operated by the oyster farmers in Sligo Bay, on the North West coast of Ireland.
Packed either in polystyrene fish boxes or in wooden baskets, the oysters are exported
by air freight to distributors in Asian markets including Hong Kong, Taiwan, China,
Malaysia, Singapore and by road and sea to distributors in Europe. Further market
opportunities in USA and Canada are currently being developed.
