Marine Harvest Ireland is Ireland’s largest producer of farmed Atlantic salmon. The
Company was founded in 1979 by a group of Irish shareholders. Today we are part of
the Marine Harvest Group, the world leading seafood company and largest producer of
farmed salmon.

The first harvest of Atlantic salmon took place in 1984 from young salmon put to sea
in 1982. By 1986 the company became self-sufficient with its own broodstock. Since
then the company has grown rapidly and today we export over 80% of our product to
countries all around the world including USA, France, Germany and Switzerland.
Marine Harvest Ireland is the only producer of organic salmon in the Marine Harvest
Group. We produce organic and premium salmon under the names ‘The Irish Organic
Salmon Company’ and ‘Donegal Silver’ respectively. As well as production in Fanad,
Co. Donegal, we also produce organic Atlantic salmon at Inver Bay, Co. Donegal; Clare
Island in Clew Bay, Co. Mayo; Kilkerian Bay in Co. Galway; Bantry Bay in Cork; and
Kenmare Bay, Co. Kerry. Our site in Clare Island was one of the world’s first salmon
farms to be certified organic.

We employ over 280 people here in Ireland and utilise over 600 Irish suppliers across
